Wow what a week, Im shattered so I can only imagine how Nikki is feeling. For a week where we had a steady 8 knot forecast everyday, it was surprisingly windy and and unstable. With out a full blow by blow account of the week here are a few stand out moments for us.

On day one it was windy, really windy. Apparently there was 41kts recorded by one coach. It was a day for the catamaran thoroughbred's. Nikki and I were on fire, coming into the finish line of the second race Im pretty sure we were one of the only boats still twin wiring and it was fast!

One of the focuses for us this week was starting. Its fair to say we made a good steps forward in that department, we had some blinders! We moved up and down the start over the regatta in order to test ourselves in the optimum spot, and by the end we were pretty comfortable anywhere on the the line.

In a fleet with so many great sailor it really does feel good to be rafting around at the front with them. We still have a long way to go, but for Nikki and I as a new team everything through until our worlds is training. Off the back of this trip to Palma, there is no doubt that we have a lot of potential, so it make sense to take our time and do things well and properly.

As much as we tell our selves its a training regatta, inevitably it hard to not pay any attention to the results. But Nikki and I can leave Palma with our heads held high. We solidly qualified for the gold fleet and worked our socks off to finish in the top 20. A great start for a team that is sure to improve as the year goes on.

Nikki and I now drive from here to the next venue, Hyeres in the south of France, and then fly home for a little time in the UK. The next regatta is in a couple of weeks and we are already looking forward to getting back out there.

Nikki and I are back out in Palma now, having had a short stint in the Uk for some necessary errands its good to be back on Majorca. 

Initially arriving on Tuesday, we were a little disappointed to find that it was raining. We spend the whole day on Wednesday putting the boat back together and getting out for a little sail in the pouring rain. It had rained so hard that the boat park had pretty much turned into a swimming pool.

But on Thursday the weather changed. We were back to 'normal' Palma weather. Rather excitingly the film team that have been working with us had made the trip out to Palma too. They joined us in the morning and got a taste of what its like in the build up to an olympic regatta. By midday the breeze had kicked in and we were back out on the water. We had a great session joining in with some of the coach lead racing. At this stage in the build up its great for Nikki and and I to do some racing and get into the right frame of mind. 

Friday was an awesome day on the water the breeze was up and the sun was shining. The film team joined us on the water and I hope got some fantastic shots of us flying around the bay. It did all end rather abruptly when our mainsail lock ring gave out, and we were forced to drop the main and sail in under jib. 

That takes us through until today, where we plan to register for the regatta get the boat through measurement and then escape Can Pastilla for a few hours for a change of scenery. Tomorrow is the final day before racing, where we will join in with the practice race and get the boat polished and ready for battle.

Having had a fantastic training block in Palma Nikki and I were able take a brief pit stop and head back to the UK for a few days. As ever in sailing the few planned days of relaxation are always filled with the errands you never get the chance to do while you are away.

So the good news is I am a few kilos lighter and a whole lot more aero after having my what can only be described a 'stig of the dump style' hair cut. I have an updated Options prescription, allowing me to actually see a lot better, and following some stunning weather here in the beautiful cornwall I am feeling very refreshed and raring to go when we get back out to Palma.

Other poignant moments that have happened while being back include, having my arse handed to me in an epic 6 player Catan battle. Its an awesome board game, and normally one in which I'm quite handy at, but not this time. I spend some time over the weekend helping my brother (very close friend) Dan and his wife Amy with some work on there dart. Boat work never seems to be far from me, but it was nice to be working outside in the sun, getting covered in gelcoat and fibre glass. Also mum rustled up another delicious roast dinner which we shared with my Uncle and Auntie who have recently returned from the Hang Gliding world championships in Mexico. Was awesome to hear about all the stories and intricacies of another sport. Think i need to have a go at it now http://www.flycloud9.co.uk/

I leave the shire in a few hours now and drive back up towards London for my flight tomorrow morning. Really looking forward to getting back out there and getting some more hours in with Nikki on the water.

I have been away for a week now, and after a few good, long days on the water we are having a bit of a slower morning today. Just as well because as i look out of the window there doesn't seem to be a breath of wind.

Nikki and I have spend the last 4 days working together and really finding our feet as a team on the boat. As we sailed in yesterday we chatted about how we felt things were, and both commented on how easy it seemed to be sailing together. While there are always improvements to come, Nikki and I are very suited on the boat I think, our skills compliment each other and when the creases are ironed out, I really believe we have huge potential. 

After a good first day in the Palma training regatta, we were keen to continue the consistency. In generally light winds we felt really competitive, great boat speed, and as we learnt to combine as a team our decisions around the course improved. In wacky conditions the race committee only managed 1 race on the Saturday and then 2 on the Sunday. Bar our false start we remained consistent, and in the tricky conditions that left us in 2nd place overall. A fantastic result for us a new team. Most importantly we have come away from the little regatta with a clear focus on what we want to focus on and improve on. 

We remain based out here until Thursday, and plan to spend as much time on the water as possible. I will try and get a few pictures, but for now this will have to suffice, got to love a hoisting face!

Well after what seemed like the longest drive in the world, we are now here in sunny Palma. Having fought our way around Paris at rush hour in the morning, it was actually a little tight for our Barcelona ferry that evening. Basically only stopping for fuel we made it to Barcelona with a little time to spare and boarded the overnight ferry to Palma.

After a surprisingly good nights sleep on the ferry, we awoke to a stunning sunrise as the boat pulled into dock. A short but rather eerie drive through the morning mist from the Palma ferry port to our sailing base Arenal was all that was left to do. 

Because of a few thinks Nikki had to do in the UK she was flying out to meet me in Palma, which left me a couple of days to tinker away in the sun. I actually love a bit of boat work when its warm and you can have a bit of music playing. 

Following quite a lot of tinkering and numerous albums of good music, Blink was looking great and ready to go, by this stage i was very eager to get on the water so it was just as well Nikki arrived to calm the excited puppy!

We had a very nice shake down sail, made sure everything on the boat was working properly. As the sun set the wind dropped off and we returned to the beach happy to be sailing again and ready for the training regatta to start the following day. 

In the build up to Palma world cup regatta at the end of the month there is always a warm up event where the teams that are out training early get a chance to have some structured racing together. This is a great opportunity for Nikki and I to do some relatively low pressure racing with all the big boys. 

Today was day 1 of the warm up regatta, and for a couple of people who haven't raced together in a few years and never on the Nacra, things went quite well. Some great starts saw us mixing it at the front of the fleet, naturally there were of course a few teething problems as we went round the course for the first time together but a brilliant day to learn and grow as a team. We both returned to shore really happy with the day on the water, we had great boat speed and on the whole sailed pretty smartly. More of the same tomorrow please.

Im must be carful what I say now, because my very theatrical sister will make me look silly if I get ahead of myself or slip up! 

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working closely with S2S Media, and Falmouth Universities Film Course. Led by David Morris a hugely talented group of students are collaborating to produce a short film about myself, the team and the trial and tribulations involved in an olympic campaign. 

As part of the project we have done a huge amount of filming, both on land and in my much more natural habitat at sea. The team have done a fantastic job so far and i really am excited to see the final product once filming has finished at the end of next month. 

Next stop Hollywood.....

A lot has been happening, and it all seems to happen at once.

Nikki and I are very proud to announce that DMS, Disc Manufacturing Services Limited have now come on board in support of the campaign. DMS are a SW based music company specialising in the production of CD, DVD & Vinyl records all delivered in Eco-friendly packaging.

There is a strong synergy between ourselves and DMS, this is all down to the morals and values of Managing Director Dave Summers. Like me Dave grew up in Cornwall and lived next to the beach, sailing Hobie 16's nearly every day until his early 20’s. Being a keen sailor, he was horrified to see with his own eyes and read stories about huge amounts of dumped plastic floating around the world’s oceans. Although aware that he was powerless to do anything about it, he made the conscious decision that his company would no longer contribute to this environmental disaster.

Encouraged and educated by Julies Bicycle, a London based organisation that helps companies reduce their harmful effect on the environment, Dave set about changing the way his company produced packaging and this has led to DMS significantly reducing the amount of plastic used in DMS packaging products. This range has proved immensely popular with clients and end purchasers and it has led to DMS significantly reducing the amount of plastic used in packaging from 90% in 2008 to less than 5% in 2015.

Over the years DMS have sponsored many internationally renowned sailors such as Pete Goss, Conrad Humphreys and more recently have helped young Southampton based sailor Nikki Curwen realise her dream of competing in the Mini Transat. We are delighted to be added to that list and hope with the additional support shown by DMS we will be able to realise our dream of competing in the 2016 Olympic Games.

DMS have helped myself and Nikki secure some coaching for the forthcoming regattas which truly is invaluable to the campaign. We are hugely thankful and are excited to develop the partnership as the team grows and improves.

As with any long silence, in this business it's not because nothing has been happening. In fact it's quite the opposite. 

Since returning from Miami a few weeks ago, things have taken a rather exciting turn. I have to say after initially being a little downbeat about the result in Miami, my motivation and excitement are now fully restored. Taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture Mary and I were probably just too late in combining as a team to launch a full assault on the 2016 games, and thus having given it our all in a truly admirable way, we have decided to call time on the partnership. Mary has been a great team mate and has taught me a lot in the last 6 months, she has just returned from racing an offshore out in the Middle East, and proving her great talent. We laughed a lot over the months sailing together and move forward happy and as good friends. 

Following this decision, and a few other changes within the program, An opportunity to sail with Nikki Boniface became an option. Nikki and I have a great history sailing together, in the summer before the Nacra 17 was released we raced together winning a nationals, European and World championship. A lot of which was raced against the same people in the nacra today. We have now teamed up officially and are both extremely excited and motivated about the development. We know everything can't happen at once, but intend to put the hours in, control all the detail and the results will follow.

e have already managed to get some good training sessions in place and have spent time with the rya specialists putting all the foundations in place to build on as the team grows and improves. It is a bit of a case of jumping in at the deep end, we shortly leave for Palma training and Olympic regatta. The Miami container arrives home at the end of the week, we will need to quickly unload, use the weekend to get any little jobs done to the boat and then leave for Palma early the following week.

Apologies for not writing sooner, but as may have noticed from my tweets this week has been a bit of a tricky one. Having thrown so much at this regatta, it was a bit of a shame that the wind and weather was so wacky all week. I think it's fair to say all the snake and ladders didn't give us the best opportunity to shine.

Having made a good start on day one. Things got really hard in the middle of the week. It's never nice to see yourself slipping the wrong direction in the results, but we woke up fresh everyday and gave it our all. The crazy nature of the race track saw a lot of ups and downs from the entire fleet. We just struggled to link the 'ups' together.

One big improvement was our lighter wind competitiveness. In the past it Mary and I have found those conditions hardest. But this week arguably it was where we got our best results. On the final day of racing the wind was a lot lighter and we had some good consistent results. Alas it was a little to late, by that stage the points between boats had spread out so much that we didn't climb up the standings much eventually finishing in 20th.

While on the face of it we were pretty disappointed, with only a day of hindsight I can already see some of the positives. Light wind speed has drastically improved, starting was notably better by the end of the week and our boat handling manoeuvres have taken a step forward as well.

Next regatta for us is Palma OCR at the end of March, so between then and now we plan to get plenty more hours on the water training, though Mary is competing in an offshore race so we will work around that. 

We have been container loading today, and then have a couple of days before we fly home. Looking forward to getting back to good old Blighty for a bit of wind and rain!

So here we are,

A huge thank you to all of those who have contributed, I am now on the brink of the first Olympic regatta of the year and you have made this possible.

Tomorrow the Miami Olympic class regatta begins, we have had a fairly chilled lead up over the last few days, to make sure we are fully ready and raring to go for tomorrow. There has been a lot of Polishing and tinkering, and I think fair to say Blink is looking particularly good at the minute.

Having gone through registration and measurement yesterday, today we got out on the water for one final little sail. There was some racing being hosted by one of the other teams which we joined in with. It was a great little shake down before the real deal starts tomorrow, and was also a good opportunity to check in speed wise with the fleet. You will all be happy to know we seemed to be going rather well. 

Racing starts at 1pm for us tomorrow as we are sharing a race course. So technically we should have a nice lay-in, though I suspect I will be up early excited like a child on Christmas morning. Nothing like 'race day eve'. Over the last few days we have been doing a lot of sailing, Mary and I have been competing in the the North American Mid winters. This is generally used by everyone as a warm up regatta for Miami OCR which starts next week.

I would to have said we had a good range of conditions during the event, but in reality all 3 days were in pretty light and very unstable wind. Despite not being nearly as fun this was a good thing for us. Mary and I have had very little racing experience in less that 15kts so it was a great chance to learn a few things.

We were racing on the furthest out race course and with no rib/coach boat for a tow, we needed to make sure we launched as early as possible everyday just be on the race course with enough time to go through our pre race checks. On the final day the wind was really light and the race course further still, we were the first to launch and it took us 1hr 20mins of flat out sailing to get to the start area. Most of the other boats without a tow were late, but in that case the committee were kind and delayed the start. 

As for results over the event, we basically ended up in 13th. This is a good step up from the worlds at the end of last summer, and with all the top teams here it shows some great improvement. Within the races we had a mixture of finishes, with what seemed like some very random snakes and ladders racing, everyone was up and down. We scored a number of top 5 finishes, but also some showers. Our boat speed seemed really good, and all things being equal we were always moving forward through the fleet. 

We have a rest day today before the build up to Miami OCR starts tomorrow. Last night we fully embraced American culture and went to watch the Miami Heat play basketball. It was an incredible experience, and genuinely gutting when we lost right at the end.

We have been here for a few days now, and it has all been happening

We woke on the first morning especially sprightly due to a favourable time difference (its horrible going to the other way), then made our way down to the boat park. When we left prior to christmas it was very much 'our' boat park, but since going home and returning a bunch of other sailors have decided to infiltrate the area. Though the new arrivals did seem to give the dusty car park more of a bustling feel, so for now I will let them stay.

We pulled blink back out of the container where she had spent her christmas and began work. Day 1 was always going to be a boat work day, there were a few little gelcoat repairs needed and the hulls were due a good clean and polish. Our training partners Nikki and Rupert we running a similar program, and i think its fair to say a bunch of hours in the beaming sunshine, stood huddled over fiddling with various bits of boat took its toll. We were all victim to it but rupert got hit especially badly! 

We returned to the apartment convinced our rental car has miraculously gained seat heaters, only to find out it was our sunburnt backs heating the seats then the alternative. Moisturiser duly applied we all retired to bed.

Sunday morning was a bit hard work for me, Im pretty sure during our busy flight I had managed to catch a little bug (the illness kind, not an actual beetle or similar), and i was beginning to feel the symptoms, determined to power through we left for the boat park, rigged the boat and hit the water. It was a great sail, good breeze and we were flying, downwind especially. We had a good few hours working with Ru and Nikki, looking at boat speed in the changing conditions. Overall we felt pretty good for our first time out this trip, speed seemed good and after  a few teething problems with the refurbished dagger boards we had them up and running and the boat handling was back on form. While the sailing was great i could feel myself getting rougher as the day went on so after a good stint on the water we decided to call it a day.

Today is Monday and in a bid to rid myself of this little bug, I have been in the apartment most of the day. I feel so much better for it, and will be back on form again tomorrow. We have lined up a few other teams from other nations to train with. so stand by for more performance updates. Out for supper to celebrate one of the teams birthday this evening.

Well it has been a lovely Christmas and  New Year but I am currently sat on a very crowded Miami bound plane gently bumping elbows with the gentleman next to me as I write. 

The festive season this year for me was a strange one. Notably down to the fact that I was missing my usual partner in crime, Katy my little sister. I have now learnt that within our family she is the the little bible of energy that gives Christmas it's excitement, so without her it was still lovely but a very grown up affair. New year was equally as classy, I attended a very fun murder mystery evening at some great friends (pretty much other brother and sister) house. I would like to think I pulled off my Humphrey Bogart role speedily, and somewhat disappointingly I was not the murderer or murdered. 

As the festive period neared the end, I was more than ready to get back out on the water. Today Mary and I met at Heathrow and over breakfast have already planned our time out in Miami. During this trip naturally the big focus for us is the OCR (Olympic class regatta) at the end of the month. But also over the trip we have a long training block and an official warm up regatta known as the North American championships. 

Mary and I can't wait to sailing, so stand by for plenty of updates, there will be a lot happening! Father Christmas was also very good to me this year and delivered a new GoPro camera, so now I have no excuse for on water footage.

Well I am most definitely home, Cornwall is doing its best at being windy and cold, its very good at it! A complete reverse of our final few days in Miami.

As we neared the end of our first block in Miami it seems the weather had decided to take a bit of a rest too. That said it was great for us to do some sailing in the lighter winds which we haven't really spent a lot of time in yet. We managed to finalise some of our set ups and now have a good idea of what final tweaks need to be made before we start racing after christmas.

In and around the sessions on the water there was a little waiting for wind, while the girls were very content sitting in the sun, Rupert and I weren't so easily pleased. Fortunately a few games of throw and catch then progressing the basketball was enough to keep us going. Though there was a bit of sitting as well.

Another personal highlight for me, was being able to drive up the coast slightly one evening to see a great friend of mine. Luke and I grew up together terrorising the waters and hills here in cornwall, since he has been working on super yachts i rarely get to see him. It was a great evening watching the christmas boat parade.

After what felt like only days it was already time to wave goodbye to Miami, The training block has been so so valuable. Some huge hours on the water, and some big steps made in our performance. It really does feel like we are steaming in the right direction. Thankyou to everyone who contributed and made that trip possible, we are closer to Rio for it.

For now its back to good old blighty for christmas. I am really looking forward to catching up with family and friends before returning to Miami in the new year for the next instalment and racing! I think it fair to say I kind of like it out here. The 'winter' weather has been perfect for sailing. We havent had a day under 20 degrees, and on the whole the wind has been really nice as well. All of this has equated to some great hours on the water. Following my last blog we continued to sail for a couple of days and managed some really productive sessions on the water. 

After a fairly relentless introduction to Miami, we opted to take a rest day. Following alot of deliberation on what to do during our time not sailing, we eventually settled on driving down to the florida keys and seeing a little of the scenery and wildlife down there. After some seemless navigation we made it to Key Large (the first of the keys), Having pulled in to the first tourist information centre we were only in there 5 minutes and left with a booking for a jetski wildlife watching tour. It was a great trip, unfortunately the wildlife wasn't abundant, but we had a great time. I think the highlight must have been when one of the other skis on the tour managed to roll, this left 2 very surprised 'older' people floundering in the water. All very entertaining. The long drive back to Miami was made bearable by the incredible sunset which seemed to go on for hours.

On Tuesday it was back to business. Miami provide some more glamorous conditions and we made the most of it. We were even joined briefly by Stevie Morrison (2 time olympian), who offered some words of wisdom from the rib. Over the subsequent few days we got some great time on the water, it really does feel like we are learning everyday and moving forward.

As we arrived at the end of the week, the wind for the first time has been a little ropey. Yesterday the forecast was for nothing, so we took the opportunity to get a few jobs done. The girls took great delight in wondering a near by shopping centre during the morning. myself and rupert's experience can probably be best described as power walking around a giant building. IN the afternoon we met up with some of the other nacra teams and made fools of our selves on the South Beach volleyball courts. needless to say i think we will all stick to the sailing.

A now we are up to today. fresh and ready for another training block. As i sit and write this the breeze seems to be building so we should have a good day on the water.

Before i get into the nitty gritty, i want to first thank everyone who has supported me and made this trip happen. I feel privileged to have all of your support, its a huge boost to me and the campaign.

On Wednesday Mary and I met Ru and Nikki at Heathrow and boarded our flight to Miami. I was a little disappointed when the stewards asked me to turn right instead of left as I boarded the plane, but I will assume it was a honest mistake and not kick up a fuss. The 9 hour flight flew by (excellent pun) After a number of inflight movies and the entire Gregory Alan Isakov (stunning musician) back catalogue we touched down in the USA. Following a full wrestling match with the finger print scanning machine i eventually made it through customs. 

The first of the American errands was to sort the Hire car, and i think its fair to say we nailed it. After some deliberation we decided to go with an estate car, but on collection we were told that we could have an SUV instead. After selecting the biggest car in the row, we all felt very proud of ourselves. After a fairly unintentional scenic tour of Miami's finest suburban streets we eventually found our apartment, and it has a pretty awesome view.

After a very early start due to jet lag, we were ready and raring to go. Having got to the container ahead of schedule we took the time to have a look around and get our bearings. Once the container arrived we launched straight into rigging. Having traveled half way around the world Blink was looking good. Following a few little changes she was rigged and ready. After a full day in the sun putting the boat together we thought it was a good time to sample some of the local culture, a beer in Hooters was just what the doctor ordered! And thank you to Iris for being so helpful and attentive. 

Finally it was a sailing time. We have now had 2 amazing days on the water. Perfect conditions, and amazingly warm clear water. The sailing has been going really well, and we seem to have great pace. We are working closely with Rupert and Nikki which is great. The plan over the next few days is to put many more hours in on the water and make the most of this awesome place. 

This evening we made it home before sunset and took the opportunity for a quick dip in our roof terrace pool, not a bad view from up there.

Its been a wild month, but I am now back in the beautiful Mylor preparing for warmer sunnier climbs. I think from that you can probably grasp where im off to next. But before I let you in on my worst kept secret, let me get you up to speed on the last couple of weeks.

Mary and I have been relentlessly trying to fit in as much sailing as possible. The splendid British winter weather has been doing its best to make life hard, but wasn’t a match for us. Last week we had a full week on the water in Weymouth, and was generously joined by Tom Saunt on a couple of days to provide some very welcome coaching. It was a hugely productive week, mainly in more breezy conditions but for the first time in a while we had the opportunity to sail in some light stuff too.

The on water time has been strongly supported by lots of time in the gym. During this stage in the year the support staff set high volumes of physical training to build our base fitness that will last us through the race season. Most of you that know me, will know that the gym is not my best friend, but recently I have become rather more acclimatised to it. As I have said before Mary and I are working really hard and doing everything we can to make this happen. To say ‘leaving no stone unturned’ would be both clichéd but accurate.

Following a big week on the water, I had the privilege of seeing my younger sister in a thoroughly entertaining production of the borrowers. The only slight sting in the tail was that, the show was based in Stoke-on-Trent. Despite the long drive it was hugely worth it, I recommend anyone in that direction to get down to the New Vic Theatre and give it a watch! That takes us up to this week, which has really been about tidying things up for the winter. Another great sail on Monday put an end to our time in Weymouth this year. Tuesday was completely filled with delivering boats back around the UK before arriving home at 1am on Wednesday morning.

Right then,

As many of you will hopefully know, Mary and I have been working hard on raising support in order to make our winter program a reality. And thanks to you guys we are half way there. The Miami block is broken into two halves, the first before Christmas is to meet the container and get some slightly warmer but notably more consistent training in, and then retuning after Christmas for a little more training and the all important regatta.

I am massively proud to say stage 1 is complete, between you all, the first half on the trip is a go. We fly out next week, words cant explain how appreciative I am to you guys, or how excited I am to get out there and begin to smash the hours in. We have a great plan to keep our time on the water productive and ultimately prepare ourselves best for the post Christmas regatta.

This is a huge boost to us, but as I said before this is only half the winter block. And I hate to say it but this is the reasonable half. Post Christmas we are out there for a longer block and are of course racing for much of it, that in turn naturally creates more cost. I honestly really don’t enjoy doing this, but if you know of anyone or anyway of supporting us on this amazing journey towards Rio, I would love to hear from you.

In the next week, I am based in Cornwall preparing myself for going away. I am starting to make friends with the gym down here as well, and doing everything I can to make a difference for when we arrive in Miami for round 1. Success or not, it will not be because of a lack in trying.

My next update will I have no doubt involve a picture of a wing tip!

The week began at home, Over Monday and Tuesday i was back in the shire of the beautiful Mylor, most of my time was taken up by running a few errands and generally catching up with all the other bits of my life outside of sailing. 

But before i knew it, it was Wednesday morning and I was back off to weymouth for another block of training. Having been away the previous weekend, Mary and I spend some time rebuilding the boat and readying her for the water. Following a couple of slightly unforeseen jobs much of the day had gone, so we retired back to our accommodation, knowing that the following day was going to be hard and painful.

Thursday was fitness testing day! Given my program over the last year, I knew that the test was going to be hard. I can honestly say i put everything i possibly had into it, following my max sprint test, i was exhausted. Sorry for the lack of photos, but if i am honest i'm not sure i had the strength to lift a camera at that stage of the day. From the test results the physiologist team will put together my new training planner for my work in the gym. Thursday was a hard day, but a good supper and a trip to the cinema was a good means of recovery.

Friday, finally some more time back on the water. We had a great sail, with 14-16kts and sunshine we managed to get a really good session on the water. We concentrated on a number of things but primarily mark roundings which really came on over the session. After the long sail we returned to the shore for lunch and a debrief. 

In keeping with our very busy week, my weekend was no different. Friday evening I developed my cultured side with a trip to the theatre. I watched Jeeves and Wooster, which was both hilarious and very clever. And then on Saturday it was down to a friend house for a black tie birthday party, it was a great evening full of a lot of dancing, in fact i rather wish i had worn my HR monitor and used it as a fitness session!

Im back in weymouth again now for a full week of training, so stay tuned for more updates and photos.

Since our success at the national ranking regatta at the end of October, Mary and I have been flat out. I think i have spent about 4 full days at home since then. For the rest of my time we have been working hard in weymouth getting on the water when we can and in the gym when we cant. 

Our month started by loading the container for the Miami element of the winter. The container takes about a month to travel to the US, and because of the fact we only have one boat initially we were at a bit of a lose end for November. Alas the amazing Anderson gang came to our rescue, Maddy Anderson who has been racing alongside us all year, very generously allowed us to borrow her boat 'Margot' (no idea about the name) for our training here in the UK. I really cant thank her and the Andersons enough.

It most definitely is starting to get pretty cold on the water now, I haven't taken my Typhoon drysuit off for the last few sessions. But despite the chilliness we have had some great sessions on the water in a good range of conditions.

We have been working closely with Rupert and Nikki which has been great. The two of us have balanced our time well between speed work and boat handling. 

And now for the big news.... Thanks to those that have got behind our call to arms, we have now raised enough money to cover our flights to Miami for the training block before christmas. This is a good chunk of the expenses but there is still a lot to go, accommodation, car hire and shipping to mention a few bits. Please keep the word circulating, it really is helping!
